"Leadership is getting people to work for you when they are not obligated" - Fred Smith, CEO of FedEx
The second level of leadership is Building Relationships. This is the foundation of leadership. At this level of leadership, people follow you because they like you and they want to be around you. Your influence lies in your personality. You are someone who is genuinely concerned about other persons. Recall that people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. People who are unable to build solid, lasting relationships are unable to sustain long, effective leadership.
What is the nature of your relationships with your peers, your team, your friends, your family? How do you influence them? Do you affect them with a desire to act positively? Or do you infect them with inaction or passive aggression?
What one action will you do today to take your relationships to the next level ... above and beyond?
