Motivational and success guru, Zig Ziglar, died last week (November 28). He had many famous quotes which are often used by individuals as personal mantras, such as:
"If you're sincere, praise is effective; if you're insincere, it is manipulative."
"What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals."
"You can have anything you want if you help enough other people get what they want."
"There is little you can learn from doing nothing."
"Character gets you out of bed; commitment moves you to action; discipline enables you to follow through."
"It's not what happens to you that determines how far you will go in life; it is how you handle what happens to you."
Zig believed that success was achieved through passion and action. He further recognized that completing tasks becomes increasingly difficult if one is not motivated. He compared motivation to bathing, noting that it does not last forever, and for best results it should be done daily. Many leaders are so task-oriented that passion and motivation are often neglected, both in their personal approach as well as in their relations with team members.
Are you motivated to complete your tasks today? Is your team motivated? Do you know what motivates your team members? How can you motivate them today?
