"Feedback is the breakfast of champions." - Ken Blanchard
As we approach the end of the calendar year, performance reviews are often on the minds of both leaders and team members. Some persons want to finish the year with a bang, some persons want to just make it across the finish line, and some are uncertain where they stand in the grand scheme of things. Individual and team success doesn't spring from annual or semi-annual performance reviews. These performance reviews are to formally measure success. However, throughout the year, your team members should be getting regular feedback about their progress and should be developing, executing and reviewing their action plan as they go along. In their performance review, the feedback should not surprise them as they would have been having this conversation with their team leader throughout the year.
Have you been giving your champions breakfast or have they been left to fend for themselves? How have you been developing fledgling champions in your team?
