To apply for the 朋地计划, fill out this short form: 朋地计划申请. 朋地 is a transfer-support program that follows the "cohort" model; each cohort consists of 25 to 35 students. It provides specialized counseling, 文化的浓缩, 大学接触, and mentoring to help students transfer to Universities in 2 - 3 years of enrollment at LAVC.
具体地说, 朋地 is intended to help bridge the gap of Latinx students being admitted to UC schools; however, some 朋地 students prefer to transfer to a California State University, 私立学校, or an out of state university. Wherever students wish to transfer, 朋地 provides the support students need to be prepared for university-level coursework, 研究生院, 职业生涯.
最后, participating in 朋地 is an excellent extracurricular commitment that students can highlight on UC applications, giving them a competitive edge when applying to UCs.
LAVC 朋地 Courses and Eligibility:
1. All incoming 朋地 students begin in the 2024年秋季 semester and must take the following designated 朋地 courses. Please note that you cannot take any English 101 or 咨询 requirements. The 朋地 courses are taught by the 朋地 Co-Coordinators, Susana Marcelo and Ruth Vasquez. You will receive the class numbers and information after you are accepted into the 朋地计划. Please remember to fill out the 申请表格.
- English 101 with the 朋地 English Instructor
- English 72 (a 1-unit lab to help you pass English 101)
- 咨询 001 (a 1-unit Personal Development course to help you be successful in higher education)
2. In the Spring 2025 Semester (second phase of the program), students take 朋地 English 103
and 朋地 咨询 20 course.
Earn Digital Badges for Completing 朋地 Milestones:
1. 在学年期间, 朋地 students are required to meet with their assigned mentors at least three times.
2. Meet with the 朋地 counselor in an individual appointment at least once a semester in the Spring.
3. 朋地 students are required to attend all trips, 包括 the fall Student Motivational Conference, Noche de Familia (Family Night), 还有春季校园游.
4. Participate in the 朋地 Student Club (Meeting times TBD).
5. Submit a “progress report” midway through each semester, signed by each instructor to verify academic standing.
6. Participate in at least two tutoring sessions/workshops per semester.
朋地的使命
The mission of the 朋地 Project is to increase the number of educationally underserved students, who enroll in four-year colleges and universities, 获得学位, and return to the community as leaders and mentors for future generations. 朋地 is open to all interested students.
